WATERTOWN HOSTS FCS THURSDAY -- Jamie Reed battled control problems, but threw a two-hitter Tuesday as Watertown went on the road for a 1-0 victory at Red Boiling Springs. Reed worked around nine walks, but struck out seven batters. The Tigerettes pounded out 11 hits, scoring four runs in the first inning, two in the second and four more in the fourth. Erin Patchen, Jordan Brewington and Bay Cole each had a pair of hits while Tiffany Tomlinson drove in two runs. The Lady Commanders enter Thursday's game 3-3 overall following Tuesday's 5-3 victory over Trousdale County High. Hunter Holland threw a complete game six-hitter, striking out four with no walks. Jordan Burton had an RBI double in the fith to break open a 3-3 game. Holland, Megan Reeves, Kristian Watkins and Brittany Petry each had two hits in the win. Following Thursday’s game, Friendship Christian will entertain a couple of Class AAA teams. On Saturday, FCS will host Murfreesboro Oakland in a 2 p.m. game. On Tuesday, March 27, Friendship Christian will play at Mt. Juliet High in a 5 p.m. contest. DEFENDING CHAMP BEECH VISITS LHS -- The Lady Devils improved to 1-1 on the season following Tuesday's 4-3 win in nine innings over Gallatin at Baird Park. Lebanon led 3-0 before Gallatin rallied to tie the score in the top of the seventh. Katlin Eakes provided the game-winner with an RBI double in the ninth, scoring Megan Brown from second base. Kearston Yahola drove in a pair of runs with a double and a triple. Rebecca Troup added an RBI single. Beth Swartwout worked the top of the ninth for the win, in relief of starter Bethany Anderson. Friday and Saturday Lebanon will play at the Brentwood tournament. MJCA OPENS SEASAON 1-1 -- The Lady Saints dropped to 1-1 on the season following Tuesday's 10-2 home loss to Zion Christian Academy. MJCA committed eight errors while Zion Christian pounded out 13 hits. On Monday, the Lady Saints blasted St. Cecilia 17-7 in the season-opener. Down 5-0 after the top of the first, MJCA came roaring back with a 10-spot in the bottom of the frame. Brianna Caldwell picked up the win with three innings of work -- striking out eight. WILSON CENTRAL STANDS 7-3 -- The Lady Wildcats defeated Father Ryan 4-3 and Dobbyns Bennet 6-1 Saturday in the Commando Classic; then topped Smyrna 4-3 before falling to eventual champ Riverdale 6-1 in the quarterfinals. For the tournament, WC was led in hits by Kaitlyn Clark and Allie Bennett with eight apiece. Clark also leads the team with two homeruns. Freshman Morgan Powell added six hits, including three doubles, while pitching six games and going 4-2. |
