LEBANON -- Defending Class AAA state champion Beech improved to 9-1 on the season and 2-0 in District 9AAA following Thursday's 11-0 run-rule win over Lebanon High at Baird Park.

The Lady Buccaneers no-hit LHS, scoring at least one run in every inning and four apiece in the third and fifth innings. Beech collected the 11 runs on 14 hits and played error-free ball.

Senior Alex Banks, who tossed her first no-hitter of the season, improved her record to 9-1 and now has eight shutouts and one earned run allowed in those 10 outings. Had it not been for a walk in the early innings, Banks would have collected a perfect game.

Eight of the nine Beech batters in the lineup collected at least one hit and seven of the nine collected at least one RBI.

Lebanon committed five errors behind losing pitcher Beth Swartwout.

Beech leadoff hitter Heather Montgomery was 3-for-4 with three hits, two RBIs and three runs scored. Freshman Peyton Kurgan had one hit, one RBI and scored two runs.

Lebanon (1-2 / 1-1 in District 9AAA) will be in action this weekend, playing in the Chick-fil-A Classic, sponsored by Brentwood High. LHS is scheduled to play Franklin High Friday at 7 p.m. followed by an 8:30 p.m. game vs. Hume-Fogg.
