LEBANON -- Cumberland’s Allison Blackwood and Courtney Maynard were named the TranSouth Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, on Monday after helping the Bulldogs to a 4-2 record last week. The junior drove in all three runs in CU’s 3-2 victory over Freed-Hardeman, including a game-tying two-run homer in the fourth inning and a walk-off single in the eighth. She tossed five shutout innings in the circle for a victory against Bethel and worked seven innings of relief versus FHU, giving up two runs in a no decision. She is now batting .395 with six homers and 29 RBIs this season at the plate and leads the TranSouth in RBIs. Maynard ran her record to 12-1 this season with three more victories in three outings for the Bulldogs. The Lancaster native allowed one run on eight hits against Bethel and scattered 12 hits, giving up two runs at Trevecca. The sophomore tossed eight innings versus Freed-Hardeman, allowing one earned run on six hits. She struck out six in all three contests and lowered her earned-run-average this season to 1.46 in 91.0 innings of work. Maynard has 80 strikeouts and opponents are batting just .240 against her.
