WILSON CENTRAL 14, HENDERSONVILLE 1 Morgan Powell scattered three hits over six innings to record the win. The Lady Wildcats (12-6 overall) scored three runs in the top of the first on a three-run homer by Laura Stavinoga -- her third of the season. Central ended the game on the mercy rule with a nine-spot in the top of the sixth. WCHS pounded out 12 hits, four from Kaitlyn Clark, with two hits each from Rachel Tichenor and Ashley Eldridge. WEDNESDAY NIGHT -- The softball teams from Mt. Juliet and Lebanon High will be back in action today as they face District 9AAA opponents in Sumner County. Mt. Juliet (10-1 / 1-0 9AAA) will play at Station Camp in a 5 p.m. contest. Lebanon (2-6-1 / 1-2) is set for a 4:30 p.m. game at Portland. The two Wilson County teams met Tuesday at Mt. Juliet with the Lady Bears scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to post an 8-5 win over LHS. Lauren Payne's two-run single scored two runs and eluded the Lebanon outfielder -- allowing her to circle the bases. Mt. Juliet jumped to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but Lebanon took a 4-2 advantage in the top of the third. Savannah Sanders picked up the decision for MJHS with three innings of relief work. Bethany Anderson took the loss for LHS, scattering nine hits and walking two. FRIENDSHIP 5, GORDONSVILLE 0 -- The Lady Commanders improved to 6-4 overall and 2-0 in the district as Holland scattered five hits, walked one and struck out three. Holland helped her own cause with an RBI single in the top of the second, then stole home in the sixth inning. Tana Whited and Megan Reeves each had doubles for FCS. The Lady Commanders are set to play in Cookeville this weekend, in the Macon County Invitational. Pool play starts Friday with games at 4 and 7 p.m. MONDAY AFTERNOON -- Lady Bear shortstop Tori Barrett helped stake pitcher Savannah Sanders to a comfortable lead in Monday’s 13-3 victory over Friendship Christian School. Barrett drove home four runs with a single and a double as the Lady Bears batted around in a nine-run bottom of the first. Madison Taylor and Brittney Graves each had two hits as Mt. Juliet improved to 9-1 on the season. Sanders went the distance in the five-inning game, scattering five hits with strikeouts. Tana Whited had an RBI double for FCS while Hunter Holland, Courtney Petty, Mallory Johnson, and Megan Reeves all singled. Whited took the loss with four innings of work, before giving way to Petty. On Sunday, Friendship Christian scored a 4-3 home win over Murfreesboro Oakland. Petry blasted a two-run homer for the Lady Commanders while Jordan Burton knocked in the game-winner with a seventh inning single. Mt. Juliet will return to action this evening hosting District 9AAA rival Lebanon High (2-5-1). The Lady Bears will play Station Camp High in Gallatin Thursday afternoon, March 29. Friendship Christian will be playing in the Macon County Invitational Friday and Saturday. MJCA 20, Glencliff 0 Wilson Central’s Lady Wildcats will be in action later today as they travel to Drakes Creek Park to take on Hendersonville. First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m. Later this week, WCHS will play in the Riverdale Lady Warrior Classic. Lebanon High’s softball team will play at District 9AAA rival Portland High Thursday at 4:30 p.m. LHS went 1-2-1 over the weekend in the Chick-fil-A Classic in Williamson County. |
