JACKSON -- Cumberland University standout Mike Mandarino has been voted as the TranSouth Baseball Player of the Year and Jonathan Estes of Freed-Hardeman University has been voted as the TranSouth Coach of the Year.

The first and second team all-conference awards were also announced, along with the TranSouth Conference Rawlings Gold Glove team. These awards will be presented during a ceremony prior to game three in the conference tournament, which starts Monday, April 30 at Union University's Fesmire Field.

Mandarino, 6-foot-1 pitcher/first baseman from Massapequa, N.Y., was named TranSouth All-Conference at two positions this season. He did his best work from the mound where he was named first team all-conference pitcher. Mandarino was 9-2 this season with 11 starts and 13 appearances with eight complete games.

In 80.0 innings, he allowed just 22 earned runs, posting a 2.48 ERA with 63 strikeouts and just 28 walks. Mandarino was named to the second team as a first baseman. Estes is in his third season as the head baseball coach at his alma mater, Freed-Hardeman. This season, Estes led the Lions to a 36-19 overall record and a league best 15-6 conference record. Estes led Freed-Hardeman to their first TranSouth Conference regular season title in 15 years, while also pushing the Lions into the NAIA National Polls.
