LEBANON -- It was same old, same old in the District 8A baseball finals. Friendship Christian made it 14 consecutive district championships on Wednesday with a 23-2 win over Trousdale County High. FCS, now 34-2 overall, trailed 2-0 before scoring seven runs in the second inning, six in the third and kicking in the run-rule with a 10-spot in the bottom of the fourth. The Commanders will now host the runner-up from District 7A Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the first round of the Region 4A tournament. Trousdale County reached the finals with a 4-2 victory over Watertown in the finals of the loser’s bracket. Watertown 7, Gordonsville 5 Trailing 1-0, Watertown took the lead for good in the top of the second on Logan Grantham's three-run bomb. The Tigers added two runs in the third and two more in the six. WHS finished with nine hits and overcame five errors to pull off the victory. Meador helped his own cause with two hits and two RBI. Brannon Hill and Dennie Holcomb wach had two hits for the winners. Friendship 13, Trousdale Co. 2 The Commanders (33-2) will host the winner of the Watertown v. Trousdale County game in tonight's 6:30 p.m. tournament finals. An "if necessary" game would be played on Thursday. FCS pounded out 13 hits to back the two-hit pitching of Brennan Swindoll. The junior lefty improved to 10-1 on the season after striking out eight in five innings of work with two walks. Outfielder Steven Hollis drove in two runs with two hits, while Hunter Watts and Cale Mitchell each had a pair of hits. |
