Defending Class A state champ Friendship Christian will take a record of 53-4 into the opening round of the TSSAA state volleyball tournament Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 12 Noon. The Lady Commanders will play Loretto (25-9) in an opening round match. Bracketed with FCS will be Concord Christian (21-7) and Trinity Christian (28-6).

The other four teams in the bracket include: Knox Grace (34-17), Boyd Buchanan (30-10), Eagleville (28-14) and Madison.

LEBANON -- Friendship Christian's volleyball team will return to the state tournament next week in Murfreesboro after sweeping Sale Creek 3-0 Thursday in the Class A Sectional at the Bay Family Sportsplex.

Game scores: 25-21, 25-18 and 25-18.

The defending Class A state champions, the Lady Commanders move on to the state tournament with a record of 53-4.

BRENTWOOD 3, MT. JULIET 0 --
BRENTWOOD -- Mt. Juliet's volleyball team was denied a trip to the TSSAA Class AAA state tournament Thursday night, falling 3-0 to Brentwood High in a Class AAA sectional.

Game scores: 25-15, 25-14 and 25-15.

Mt. Juliet, the Region 5AAA runner-up and District 9AAA runner-up, was led by Ryann Amity with seven kills, eight digs and three blocks. Halle raines finished with 16 assists.

Coach Jennifer Wilson's team finished the season 33-9 overall while Brentwood advances with a 46-4 won-loss record.
