LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Cumberland University’s Harry Mason is the Mid-South Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday. For Mason, the weekly honor is his first of the season and of his career. The Sutton Coldfield, England, midfielder scored six goals in a pair of Cumberland wins to earn Mid-South Offensive Player of the Week. Mason, a junior, found the back of the net twice in the Bulldogs’ 5-1 win over St. Catharine College to begin his week Thursday, Oct. 18. On Saturday, Mason scored four goals in a 6-1 win over University of the Pikeville to help Cumberland run its winning streak to four straight. Of his four goals, three came in a three-minute stretch midway through the first half to secure the win. The four-goal performance marks the third time this season Mason has scored three or more goals in a game. Mason is third in the Mid-South this season in points (32) and tied for second in goals (14). He also is tied for 11th in the MSC with four assists. With last week’s wins, Cumberland improves to 5-8-1 overall and 3-5 in the Mid-South. |
