After posting a 28-23 victory at home over Campbellsville Saturday night, Cumberland moved up five spots to No. 20 nationally in the seventh edition of the NAIA Football Coaches' Top 25 Poll, the national office announced Monday.

CU rebounded with Saturday’s win against Campbellsville University after dropping a 42-14 decision the previous week at Faulkner University.

Coach Dewayne Alexander's team stands 6-2 overall this season, with the only other loss against 10th-ranked University of the Cumberlands on September 8.

Reed Gurchiek rushed 44 yards for the game-winning score versus Campbellsville and the Cumberland defense allowed just 52 yards in the fourth quarter, stopping the Tigers on downs at the CU nine-yard line and forcing a fumble at the CU 45 in the final period. Michael Hagewood also picked off a tipped ball in the final minute to seal the victory.

The Bulldogs head to Bethel University this Saturday for a 1:30 p.m. contest. The Wildcats defeated Faulkner this past weekend, 33-21, and have won five of their last six outings since starting the year 0-2.

Cumberland plays its final home game of the year on Nov. 3 at 1:30 p.m. against Bluefield College.
