MJ CLAIMS 2ND PLACE IN 9AAA
GLADEVILLE -- Mt. Juliet head coach Roger Perry could get accustomed to this Thursday night thing. His Golden Bears took advantage of five Wilson Central turnovers and spoiled Senior Night for the Wildcats with a 38-15 victory at Wildcat Stadium on the MyTV30 Thursday Night Lights game.

The win, Mt. Juliet's fifth consecutive Thursday night TV triumph, gave the Bears (9-1) outright possession of second place in District 9AAA and a home game in the first round of the Class AAA playoffs next week. The game also marked Mt. Juliet's fourth straight win over Wilson Central -- giving the Bears a 7-5 advantage in the head-to-head series.

Clinging to a 14-7 lead at intermission, Mt. Juliet DB Deontre Nealous picked off Central quarterback Jordon Roundtree twice in the third quarter setting up a TD and a field goal.

All told, the Bears outscored Wilson Central 24-8 in the second half.

Nolan Chowbay threw a pair of TD passes for Mt. Juliet while Austin Chaplin scored two touchdowns.

Tim Fitzgerald finished with a big night for Wilson Central (8-2) rushing for 158 yards on 27 carries.
