Saturday at Percy Warner Park --
Nine Wilson County runners will be competing Saturday in the TSSAA state cross county meet at Nashville’s Percy Warner Park Steeplechase Course. Runners qualified for the state based on their performances at the Region 5AAA meet Thursday, Oct. 25 at Hendersonville’s Sanders Ferry Park.

Mt. Juliet’s boys team qualified as a unit thanks to a second place finish. Team members include: John Abernathy, Colbe Earles, Mikey Fils, Cal Groome, Jimmy Richman, Matt Stanley and Elijah Wilson.

Wilson and Lebanon High’s Mark Britt finished third and fourth in the regional meet with Britt earning a state berth based on his individual performance. Wilson ran the 5,000 meter course in a time of 16:58.81 while Britt ran a 17:02.48.

Wilson Central sophomore Taylor Blankenship was the only local female runner to earn a spot in Saturday's state meeting -- finishing ninth overall with a time of 21:00.48.
