You can’t make this All Mid-State squad because of your press clippings. The only way to get your name on the Mid-State Cross Country Associations’ honor team is be one of the 15 fastest runners over three qualifying races.

Three Wilson County runners have earned spots on their respective postseason All Mid-State squads -- Lebanon’s Mark Britt, Mt. Juliet’s Elijah Wilson and Wilson Central’s Taylor Blankenship. They were recognized Monday night at the MSCCA awards banquet at Brentwood Academy.

Britt was ranked seventh on the 15-member boys’ team at 51:59.41 based on his times in the Voyles Classic, the MSCCA Championships and the state meet. Britt, a sophomore, finished 46th in a field of over 200 in Saturday’s TSSAA Class AAA meet at Percy Warner Park’s Steeplechase Course.

Wilson, a senior, was ranked 10th with a combined time of 52:04.38 over the same three races. Wilson finished 60th overall with a time of 17:52.86.

Blankenship, a sophomore at Wilson Central, placed 11th on the 15-member Mid-State girls' team with a combined time of 1:03:50.79. On Saturday, Blankenship placed 50th in the girls’ race with a time of 21:33.67 out of 187 runners taking part in the race.

Check the Wednesday, Nov. 7 print edition of The Wilson Post for action photos from the TSSAA Class AAA state meet.
