FORMER WILSON CENTRAL STANDOUT In a game that was largely decided in the first half as the RedHawks (2-3) built a 35-9 lead, much of the attention shifted to Christopher, who entered Saturday's contest needing eight points to eclipse the 1,000-point mark. After the halftime break, Christopher stepped to the free throw line in the second half and rattled home a shot home to an ovation from friends, family members and teammates. In addition to her 15 points, Christopher also tracked down eight rebounds, five steals and three assists. Christopher becomes just the seventh player in team history to join the 1,000-point club and the third player in the last three seasons to achieve the mark. Two of Christopher's ex-teammates, Vee Young and Micah Anderson, reached their milestones in the 2011-12 and 2010-11 seasons, respectively. "It was exciting to see Jessy score her 1000th career point," RedHawks head coach Jamy Bechler said. "She has been such a joy to coach these past three seasons. It was great to see her enjoy the moment." Christopher is the daughter of Bob and Edye Christopher of Lebanon. |
