CU wrestlers win at Shorter PDF Print E-mail

ROME, GA -- Cumberland won six matches, including pins by Zeke Hunt and Cody Linton along with a Technical Fall from Jake Williams, as the 18th-ranked Bulldogs posted a 33-18 dual match victory Tuesday at Shorter University. The Bulldogs (1-3) picked up Forfeits at 125 and 197 and gave the Hawks (0-1) a Forfeit at 133.

Williams posted a 22-5, Tech Fall, victory over Jesse Jones at 141 and Jared McKinley recorded a 10-0 Major Decision versus Brandon Dyer at 149.

Shorter got back into the match with wins at 157 and 165, as Gabriel Bird won an 11-5 Decision over Shane Brown and T.J. Duncan pinned David Capers at 2:13, tying the match at 15.

Hunt gave Cumberland the lead for good with a pin over Jamari Davis at 174 at 2:18 and Linton followed with a pin of Joseph Hinchman at 6:41 at 184. In the final match Shorter's Chris Rowland won a 3-1 Decision over Tyler Smith in the heavyweight class.

Cumberland will next participate in the Middle Tennessee Duals at Smyrna High School Saturday, Dec. 1.
