Five honored by TSWA for 2012 volleyball PDF Print E-mail

Wilson County was well represented on two all-state volleyball teams as announced this week by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association -- including four individuals from Friendship Christian School and one from Mt. Juliet.

Class A honorees from FCS include, the following all-staters:

Kaitlyn Teeter, 6-2 senior outside hitter and a four-time all-state pick. The Lipscomb University signee recorded 711 kills in 2012, served 76 aces, had 297 digs and 79 blocks. She was MVP of the Class A state tournament for the second year in a row and helped the Lady Commanders to a record of 57-4 and a second consecutive state title.

Ali Burroughs, 5-9 senior outside hitter. Burroughs has been a veteran for the Lady Commanders and rifled 362 kills, 103 aces, 190 digs and 55 blocks. Burroughs was named all-tournament at the state, region and district level.

Alex Sealy, 5-11, junior middle hitter. Sealy totaled 343 kills, 102 aces, 190 digs and 126 blocks as a key member of Friendship Christian's front line.  She was also named all--tournament at the state, region and district level.

Class A Coach of the Year, was Friendship Christian's Randy Alley. Coach Alley guided the Lady Commanders to a second straight Class A state title with a record of 54-7.

Class AAA all-state:
Ryann Amity, 5-11, junior middle hitter from Mt. Juliet. A versatile athlete, Amity averaged 10 kills per match, two aces, seven assists, eight digs and three blocks. She helped lead the Lady Bears to a record of 33-9 and a berth in the TSSAA sectional. Amity was voted the District 9AAA Most Valuable Player.
