Watertown wins two at TCHS
HARTSVILLE -- Watertown High picked up a pair of District 8A basketball wins Friday night, sweeping a doubleheader at Trousdale County High.

The Watertown girls upped their record to 9-10 overall / 1-3 in the district with a 64-44 victory in the opener. WHS sprinted to an 18-7 lead and took a 33-15 margin into the lockerroom at intermission. Jasmine High led the Tigerettes with 15 points, Alicia Jennins added 13 and Bay Cole finished with nine.

Four Purple Tigers scored in double figures as the Watertown boys came away with a 77-58 victory in Friday's nightcap.

Guard Macieo Gaines led the way with 17 while Ty Jobe connected on three 3-pointers to finish with 15. Josiah Smith returned to the lineup after suffering a shoulder injury and scored 11 points. Ethan Moss also had 11 for the winners.

Watertown will be back on the hardwood Monday, Jan. 21 at Eagleville High in Rutherford County.

Wilson Central splits at HHS
HENDERSONVILLE -- Wilson Central's Lady Wildcats got 12 points from Rachel Bean in Friday night's 37-25 victory at District 9AAA rival Hendersonville High.

WCHS improved to 9-9 overall and 5-3 in the league with the win. Kendall Spray had six for Wilson Central while Autumn Hopkins chipped in with five points.

In the nightcap, Hendersonville took a commanding early lead, then held off a late Wilson Central charge to defeat the Wildcats 65-57.

HHS led 53-35 after three quarters, only to see Troy Bond's team go on a 22-12 run to end the game. Wilson Central, now 14-6 overall and 5-3 in District 9AAA, got 18 points from Jacob Williams and 18 from Ben Palmer.

WCHS will be on the road again Tuesday night, Jan. 22 -- playing at Beech High School.

MJ Christian takes pair from SAS
MT. JULIET -- Lauren Wankel ripped the nets for 29 points to lead the Mt. Juliet Christian Academy girls to a 57-25 victory over visiting St. Andrews-Sewanee Friday evening.

Now 6-10 overall, 2-4 in Division II, District 1-A, MJCA also got nine points from Amanda Wall and eight from Meredith Orr.

The MJCA Saints blew open a tight game with an impressive fourth quarter in Friday's second game -- a 74-57 victory over St. Andrews-Sewanee.

Jackson Harrell connected on four 3-pointers and finished with 22 points while Zack Jones had 21, Trevor West added 14 and Brandon Wall chipped in with 13.

Now 6-11 overall and 1-5 in Division II, District 1-A, the Saints will host Trousdale County High Tuesday, Jan. 22.
