5AAA BASEBALL: MJ 9, Rossview 1 Kyle Smith drove in six runs with a pair of homers and a single as the Golden Bears improved to 37-4 on the season. MJ junior Campbell Scholl (5-0) threw a two-hitter with five strikeouts. Mt. Juliet will host Nashville Overton Friday at 7 p.m. -- with the winner advancing to the BlueCross Spring Fling next week in Murfreesboro. 5AAA SOFTBALL: MJ 9, Beech 5 The victory upped Mt. Juliet's record to 34-13-1 and sets up a TSSAA Sectional game Friday at home vs. Nashville Overton -- an 18-0 loser to Ravenwood Wednesday in the 6AAA finals. Down 2-0, Mt. Juliet batted around in the top of the second for a 5-2 lead. Madison Taylor paced the offense with three RBI on a homer and a single. 4A BASEBALL: FCS 5, Jackson Co. 0 The Commanders improved to 36-2 on the season and sets up a 6:30 p.m. home game Friday in the TSSAA Sectionals against Boyd-Buchanan. 4A SOFTBALL: FCS 11, Watertown 1 The Lady Commanders (24-14) will host Silverdale Saturday at 10 a.m. due to Silverdale holding graduation on Friday. Watertown (17-15) will play at Chattanooga Grace Baptist at 6:30 p.m. Central. Tana Whited had three homers and three RBI for FCS while Hunter Holland threw a four-hitter -- striking out five. Jamie Reed had a pair of hits for the Tigerettes. |
