MJ CLAIMS 2ND PLACE IN 9AAA The win, Mt. Juliet's fifth consecutive Thursday night TV triumph, gave the Bears (9-1) outright possession of second place in District 9AAA and a home game in the first round of the Class AAA playoffs next week. The game also marked Mt. Juliet's fourth straight win over Wilson Central -- giving the Bears a 7-5 advantage in the head-to-head series. Clinging to a 14-7 lead at intermission, Mt. Juliet DB Deontre Nealous picked off Central quarterback Jordon Roundtree twice in the third quarter setting up a TD and a field goal. All told, the Bears outscored Wilson Central 24-8 in the second half. Nolan Chowbay threw a pair of TD passes for Mt. Juliet while Austin Chaplin scored two touchdowns. Tim Fitzgerald finished with a big night for Wilson Central (8-2) rushing for 158 yards on 27 carries. |
