So, I ask you, what does Tim Tebow do after he leads the Denver Broncos to the Super Bowl? In his rookie year, no less. Republicans are struggling to find a candidate they feel can defeat President Barack Obama. Tim Tebow is the man. Who can balance our country’s budget after so many have tried and failed? Tim Tebow, naturally.
Who can erase the national debt, which at last glance was bigger than the Grand Canyon? Tebow is the man. Who can unlock the cure for cancer? Dr. Tim Tebow. After seeing what Tebow did while sending the big, bad Pittsburgh Steelers home in the wildest of Wild Card Games Sunday, nothing should surprise us. If Tebow asks Iran to ditch its nuclear bomb plans , they would cower in his presence. Tebow has to have a hotline to Heaven. How else can you explain miracles Tebow has performed on a football field as 11 guys with bulging muscles and blood in their eyes try to end his life?Tebow gives all credit to God. Some Christians preen around on Sunday, making you believe they are perfect. Tebow kneels and points to the sky. With all of sports’ bad boys, some who have spent time in jail, others who use drugs, sell drugs, drive under the influence, beat up their wives and girlfriends and other assorted crimes, some choose to mock Tim Tebow. Some laugh at him, ridicule him, poke fun at him for putting his faith first. We need more professional athletes like Tim Tebow, not less. As the bumper sticker says: Real men love Jesus. Now, do I think God favors athletes who pray for their teams to win a football game? No. Tim Tebow isn’t the only player to pray for victory. I’m sure there were some Steelers in prayer before the game asking their god to favor them. I don’t think God has the time, or cares, about which team wins a game. But there is something going on in Tim Tebow’s life that seems supernatural. He can look like the worst NFL quarterback in the game, as he did in the first quarter of the Steelers game. Or he can look like one of the best to ever play the game, as he did in the second quarter, when his team put up 20 points and he passed for 185 yards in 15 minutes, something even the great Bronco John Elway never did. When the game went to overtime, I ran downstairs to eat dinner. I devoured a grilled cheese sandwich, some chilli and raced back upstairs. The game was over. I missed it. Eleven seconds was all it took for Tebow to find Demaryius Thomas, resulting in an 80-yard walk-off touchdown pass that rocked the world. Still, there will be doubters. To stand up and profess your faith in this country cannot only lead to detractors, but death. At Columbine High School, near where Tebow now plays football, two deranged high school kids went on a shooting rampage in 1999. They killed 12 students and a teacher, wounded dozens of others. One of the shooters reportedly asked students in a room if there were any Christians there. One girl admitted she was and was shot, but survived. Initial reports said another girl who admitted being a Christian was shot and killed, but it was never proven the dialogue took place.Let’s assume it did, I believe she will meet Tim Tebow one day.
