LEBANON -- Reed Gurchiek and Broc Loveless each threw two touchdown passes, Michael Hagewood picked off two passes and Lemeco Miller scored twice, setting the single-season touchdowns mark, in Cumberland’s 49-0 victory over Bluefield College Saturday on Senior Day at Nokes-Lasater Field.

The Bulldogs (7-3, 3-2 Mid-South West) routed the first-year program, holding the Rams to just 113 yards of total offense and posting two interceptions, the second one in the CU end zone in the third quarter.

MT. JULIET -- Halfback Caleb Hopkins scored five touchdowns and the Mt. Juliet offense rolled up 485 yards in offense as the Golden Bears thumped Independence 52-22 Friday in the first round of the TSSAA Class 6A playoffs. Mt. Juliet improved to 10-1 with the victory and moves on to a second round game Nov. 9 at top-seeded Dickson County -- a 42-14 winner over McGavock.

Saturday at Percy Warner Park --
Nine Wilson County runners will be competing Saturday in the TSSAA state cross county meet at Nashville’s Percy Warner Park Steeplechase Course. Runners qualified for the state based on their performances at the Region 5AAA meet Thursday, Oct. 25 at Hendersonville’s Sanders Ferry Park.

LEBANON -– Cumberland posted a 16-2 run highlighted by seven points from newcomer TaCouya Allen during an eight-minute stretch in the second half en route to a 65-41 victory over Lindenwood-Belleville in the season opener Sunday at the Dallas Floyd Recreation Center.

The Bulldogs led 30-21 at the half despite shooting just 31 percent from the field, but CU’s defense was constant throughout, forcing 32 turnovers by the Lynx (0-2), which turned into 30 points for Cumberland.
