Mt. Juliet 34, Hendersonville 31
HENDERSONVILLE -- Mt. Juliet came from behind Friday in dramatic fashion, scoring with 25 seconds left to steal a 34-31 victory at Hendersonville's Paul Decker Field. Fullback Contrez McCathern got behind the Hendersonville defense and caught a 56-yard touchdown pass from Nolan Chowbay to give the Golden Bears (8-1, 5-1 District 9AAA) the lead and ultimately the victory.
 

Defending Class A state champ Friendship Christian will take a record of 53-4 into the opening round of the TSSAA state volleyball tournament Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 12 Noon. The Lady Commanders will play Loretto (25-9) in an opening round match. Bracketed with FCS will be Concord Christian (21-7) and Trinity Christian (28-6).

The other four teams in the bracket include: Knox Grace (34-17), Boyd Buchanan (30-10), Eagleville (28-14) and Madison.

Fresh off winning three state championships last school year in TSSAA's Division I (public school / non-scholarship) Lebanon's Friendship Christian School will move to the TSSAA's Division II for the next four years.

"We believe that this decision is consistent with our mission," said FCS President Jon Shoulders. "In our efforts to fully educate ourselves to arrive at this decision, we have had conversations and received feedback from our stakeholders, as well as administrators, coaches, athletic directors and leaders of Division II schools with whom we would be competing.  We feel strongly that this is the right decision for our school at this time."

LADY BEARS VISIT BRENTWOOD THURSDAY --
Mt. Juliet High's volleyball team dropped a 3-2 decision to Rossview in Tuesday night's Region 5-AAA tournament finals in Dickson. Game scores: 24-26, 25-20, 25-19, 15-22 and 9-15.

The Lady Bears, now 33-8 overall, will travel to Williamson County Thursday for a 7 pm TSSAA Sectional game vs. Brentwood High.

The Sectional winner advances to the TSSAA state tournament next week in Murfreesboro.

Mt. Juliet, the District 9AAA runner-up, ousted host Dickson County in Tuesday's regional semifinal match.

HOSTS SALE CREEK IN SECTIONAL
LEBANON -- Friendship Christian's volleyball team rolled to the Region 4A championship Tuesday with 3-0 wins over Clay County and Jackson County at the Bay Family Sportsplex.

FCS, the defending Class A state champs, blanked Clay Co. 25-11,25-11 and 25-10 in the semifinals before disposing of Jackson County 25-16, 25-11 and 25-14 in the finals.
