Cragwall shines for LHS track team |

Lebanon High's track team will be participating in the TSSAA Sub-Sectionals Friday and Saturday at Brentwood High School.
The Blue Devils are coming off a fourth place finish in the Saturday, May 5 Mid-State Championships at Tullahoma High School -- utilizing just six athletes.
LHS was led by Shaq Cragwall’s three first place finishes in the high jump (6’3”), long jump (21’2”) and a new school record 45’2” in the triple jump.
Xavier Neal finished first in the 200 with a time of 23.02. Kadarian Garnett had two fourth places, in the high jump (5’6”) and triple jump (37’6 1/2").
Mark Britt (2:18), Alston Johnson (2:22) and Adam Powell (2:23) finished sixth, seventh and eighth in the 800 meters. |

8A TOURNAMENT AT FCS -- Watertown and Friendship battled down to the wire in Monday's District 8A tournament opener, as the Commanders prevailed 3-1 behind a four-hit pitching performance from Kyle Wood.
Wood (7-0) struck out five and walked just one batter as FCS held off a determined Watertown crew, led by senior righty Ben Bain.
Bain used an assortment of off-speed pitches to keep the Commanders off-stride, limiting FCS to just seven hit. He walked five batters and helped his own cause with a ground-out RBI in the top of the sixth.
Austin Godwin belted an RBI double in the first and Drew Erie added a sacrifice fly in the fourth for the Commanders.
FCS (32-2) is scheduled to play Trousdale County Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the finals of the winner's bracket finals.

The District 8A tournament opens today at Crump Paris Park in South Carthage and finds Watertown High playing top-seeded Friendship Christian in a 7 p.m. game.
Watertown advanced to the double-elimination phase of the tournament with a 5-0 victory Friday over Red Boiling Springs.
District 9AAA Two loser-out games are on tap today in the District 9AAA tournament at Mt. Juliet High. The 5 p.m. game will feature Wilson Central playing Gallatin, followed by Station Camp vs. Hendersonville at 7 p.m.
WCHS (31-14) slipped into the losers' bracket with error-marred 8-6 home loss to Portland Friday. The Lady Wildcats led 4-1 after five innings, only to see Portland score a major upset.
Lebanon High, a 9-7 winner at Station Camp on Monday, will take on host Mt. Juliet Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the semifinals of the winner's bracket.
LHS improved to 17-18-1 with the upset win over No. 2-seeded Station Camp -- scoring seven runs in the top of the second inning. Kristen Dedman had a three-run double for Lebanon.
Mt. Juliet (29-11-1) defeated Hendersonville 11-8 Friday in the tournament's opening round.
Lauren Woodard went five and two-thirds innings for the win, while ninth grader Savannah Sanders picked up the save with three strikeouts.
Ashton Stowe had three hits for the winners, three RBI and three runs scored. Brittney Graves added three hits and drove in two. |

Gallatin 2, Lebanon 0 -- GALLATIN -- Senior Zach Baker threw a complete game three-hit shutout Friday, lifting Gallatin to a 3-0 victory over Lebanon in the opening round of the District 9AAA tournament at Municipal Park. Baker struck out five, hit a batter with no walks as the Green Wave advances to a second round game on Saturday.
Lebanon got a hustle double from junior Dylan Hulse, and singles from Eddie McDaniels and Jay Pittman. The Blue Devils will play Hendersonville Saturday at 3 p.m. in a loser-out contest.
Senior Dent Burger took the loss for LHS, allowing just four hits. He struck out three and walked four.

JACKSON - Chrissy Worth allowed one run on five hits and Samantha Queen went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored in Martin Methodist’s 6-0 victory over Cumberland in an elimination game here Thursday night at the West Tennessee Healthcare Sportsplex.
With the loss the season ends for Cumberland (27-22-1) and seniors Caity Gray and Tonya Barlow, but the Bulldogs return 14 letterwinners for next season, including both pitchers.
The RedHawks (38-21) scored once in the first and three more times in the fourth thanks to two CU errors. Queen had an RBI double in that inning and added a two-run homer in the fifth for MMC.
