MT. JULIET -- Taking the lead with two in the bottom of the fourth and adding an insurance run in the sixth, Mt. Juliet held off Wilson Central 5-3 Wednesday in the District 9AAA softball opener for both teams.

Emily Bombard ripped a two-run double gave the Lady Bears a 4-3 lead in the fourth and Lauren Payne drive in the final run of the game in the sixth as Mt. Juliet improved to 8-4 on the season.

Hulse throws three-hitter
LEBANON -- Blue Devil senior Dillon Hulse throttled Beech on just three hits in Thursday afternoon's 11-1 victory over the Bucs at Brent Foster Field. Hulse allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out three during his six innings of work.

Trailing 1-0, Lebanon took the lead with five runs in the bottom of the third on an RBI single by Jackson Arnold, an RBI single by Jack McKeon, a passed ball, and back-to-back Beech errors.

The Blue Devils then pushed across three more runs in the fourth for an 8-1 lead, then Taylor Bryan's walk-off double in the bottom of the sixth drove in Grant Partlow from third and ended the contest on the 10-run rule.

Tressler & Associates signs on to sponsor Blue Devil Golf Outing PDF Print E-mail

Local law firm Tressler & Associates, PLLC., has signed on as the title sponsor of the Good Friday Golf Outing, held annually by the Blue Devil Football Foundation at the Lebanon Golf & Country Club.

“We’re thrilled to have Todd Tressler and his firm on board as our title sponsor,” said tournament chairman Bob Lea. “His support will allow us to continue to do what we do best -- lend a hand to Lebanon football.”

A complete tournament field of 18 four-member teams will tee off Friday, March 29 at 12 Noon.

Tressler & Associates, PLLC was founded by former Blue Devil football player Todd A. Tressler, II and is headquartered at 212 N. Castle Heights Avenue.

 
Nick Conley shuts down MCC PDF Print E-mail

MAYFIELD, KY -- Nick Conley tossed a career-best nine innings, scattering five hits, and Chris Hall hit a two-run homer in Cumberland’s 7-1 victory over Mid-Continent University Tuesday.
 
CU (24-11-1) won for the 11th time in the last 14 contests (all in the last 13 days), taking the lead for good on Craig Monson’s two-run single in a four-run third inning.

Hall’s two-run homer down the rightfield line, the first of his career, pushed the advantage to 6-1 in the seventh and Hall’s RBI single in the ninth plated Justin Johnston with the final run.

TSWA honors CU softball duo PDF Print E-mail

Cumberland University’s Natalie Garcia and Courtney Maynard were named Tennessee Sports Writers Association Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for their performances in contests from March 18-24.
 
Garcia batted .500 (7-for-14) with four doubles, seven RBIs and 10 runs scored in five contests for the Bulldogs. The senior posted two hits and two runs scored in one game versus Centre College and was 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and four runs scored in the first game against Bryan College.
 
In Saturday's doubleheader versus Bluefield College, Garcia recorded a pair of doubles and four RBIs in the second game after walking twice and scoring two runs in the opener.
