MURFREESBORO -- Friendship Christian's 19-game winning streak came to an end Tuesday as Summertown downed the Commanders 11-8 in the first round of the TSSAA Class A state baseball tournament at MTCS.

FCS led 4-0 early and held a 5-2 advantage going into the bottom of the fourth when Summertown batted around and scored seven times.

Chris Hall and Kyle Wood both smacked homers for FCS in the loss. Stephan Remus had three RBI.

The Commanders (25-8) were scheduled to play Unaka (15-15) Wednesday morning in a 10 a.m. loser-out game. That survivor will play at 6 p.m. tonight vs. the loser of the Summertown - Trinity game.

MJ FALLS TO COLLIERVILLE
MURFREESBORO -- Collierville broke open a 4-4 game with three run in the fifth and held on for a 7-6 victory over Mt. Juliet Tuesday in the first round of the TSSAA Class AAA state baseball tournament at Mack Hawks Field.

Soph Robby Amity had a two-run single and Kyle Smith had a solo home run for Mt. Juliet. Austyn Dyer (8-2) went the distance and took the loss.

The Golden Bears fell to 29-8 on the season and are looking at a 10 a.m. elimination game against Soddy-Daisy. The winner of this game will play at 6 p.m. against the loser of the Farragut - Collierville game.

MJ SOFTBALL PLAYS TODAY
MURFREESBORO -- Mt. Juliet's Lady Bear softball team (29-8) will be in action today at 10 a.m. at the Starplex against Sodd-Daisy.

Win or lose, Mt. Juliet will play again today at 5 p.m. Coach Kacey Pedigo's team is back in the state tournament for the first time since the 2007 season.

BLAYLOCK POLE VAULTS TODAY
Lebanon High pole vaulter Savannah Blaylock will compete in the girls' pole vault today at 5 p.m. at the Dean Hayes Track Complex on the MTSU campus.
