Wednesday, February 16, 2011

Dear Ken: How many children did Michael Landon have? What TV series did he star in beside “Bonanza” and “Little House on the Prairie”? Did he make any movies?
Born Eugene Maurice Orowitz, Landon had nine children. The eight who survive range in age from 51 to 24. The man who was known on TV as Little Joe and Charles Ingalls also starred in the series “Highway to Heaven.” His feature film credits include “I Was a Teenage Werewolf,” “High School Confidential,” “God’s Little Acre” and “The Legend of Tom Dooley.” He appeared in several TV movies, most of which he produced or created, such as “Sam’s Son,” “The Loneliest Runner,” “Love Is Forever” and “Where Pigeons Go To Die.” The actor died in 1991 at age 54 of pancreatic cancer.

Dear Ken: How old is Ben Stiller’s father, Jerry Stiller, who played George Costanza‘s dad on “Seinfeld”?
Brooklyn-born Jerry Stiller is 83. He also co-starred on “The King of Queens” as Arthur Spooner. He and his wife, Anne Meara, made up the comedy team of Stiller and Meara and were popular in the 1960s and 1970s on TV variety shows. Later they turned to radio commercials and were known for a series of radio commercials for Blue Nun wine

Dear Ken: Where have I seen Moira Kelly, who plays Karen Roe on the TV show “One Tree Hill”?
Probably on “The West Wing” as Mandy Hampton. But, then again, you may have spotted Kelly, 42, in such movies as “The Cutting Edge,” “Billy Bathgate,” “Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me,” “Little Odessa” or “Dangerous Beauty.”

Dear Ken: Years ago there was a “Casper, the Friendly Ghost” cartoon series on TV. Did the Ghostly Trio have names and who was Casper’s ghost cousin with a Brooklyn accent and who was Casper’s girlfriend?
The trio wore the names Fatso, Fusso and Lazo. I’m not sure how Spooky the Tuff Little Ghost and Casper are related, but Spooky is his name and spooking is his game. Casper also had a ghost horse, Nightmare, and a girl friend, Wendy the Good Little Witch. Spooky had a girlfriend named Poil.
