Eckhart broke his arm during ‘Battle: Los Angeles’

Dear Ken: Where have I seen Aaron Eckhart before? He plays Sgt. Michael Nantz in the movie “Battle: Los Angeles.”

Eckhart, 43, has movie credits going back to 1993. Among his best are “Any Given Sunday,” “Erin Brockovich,” “The Missing,” “Thank You for Smoking,” “The Black Dahlia,” “Rabbit Hole” and “The Dark Knight.”  Born in California, he completed high school in England and Australia before attending college at Brigham Young University. He actually broke his arm while making “Battle: L.A.” “We were doing a stunt, and I slipped, and I fell about seven feet and flew right on my arm and my head, just barely missing some rocks, broke my arm, kept on going and finished the scene,” said the actor.

Dear Ken: Did the same actor who played Lurch on “The Addams Family” play Jaws in the James Bond movies or was that two different actors?
That was 6-foot-9 Ted Cassidy who played Lurch (“You rang?”) on “The Addams Family.” He died at 46 in 1979 after complications of open-heart surgery. It was 7-foot-2 Richard Kiel who portrayed Jaws in “The Spy Who Loved Me” and “Moonraker.” He is 71, still making movies, lives in California has four children.

Dear Ken: How old is Robert Conrad, and how many TV shows did he star in besides “The Wild, Wild West” and “Black Sheep Squadron”?
Born Conrad Robert Falk, the actor and father of eight children is 82. The other TV shows that he starred in include “Hawaiian Eye,” “The D.A.,” “Assignment Vienna,” “The Duke,” “A Man Called Sloane,” “High Mountain Rangers” “Jesse Hawkes” and “High Sierra Search and Rescue.” He also starred in the 1979 miniseries “Centennial.” 

Dear Ken: How did country singer Dottie West die and how many Top-10 hits did she have?
West died in 1991 from internal injuries suffered from an automobile accident. The native of McMinnville, Tenn., was 58. She had 14 Top-10 hits in the country charts, including “Country Sunshine,” “Paper Mansions,” “Are You Happy Baby,” “What Are We Doin’ in Love,” “Rings of Gold,” “Every Time Two Fools Collide” and “All I Ever Need Is You.”
