Sleeping 'Dawgs
Monday, March 21, 2011

Cumberland's baseball team has a lot of work to do after sleepwalking through Saturday's doubleheader split with first year program Blue Mountain.

The Bulldogs managed just two hits in a 4-1 win over the 'Toppers in Saturday's opener, then hid under the covers in a 7-4 loss. How's this for stepping up? Eight errors and only seven hits against a team with NO TRADITION -- just a bunch of former juco players who were obviously tired of being kicked around.

If you heard Woody Hunt's postgame radio interview Saturday, you know he's MAD!!!

CU is hosting Embry-Riddle Monday at 2:30 p.m., then Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the front end of a day / night doubleheader. The second game Tuesday will be at 6 p.m. vs. Campbellsville at Veterans Field in the Baird Park Complex.

If these guys don't get their heads screwed on straight, they could lose all three before leaving town to play at Lindsey Wilson on Wednesday.

The next three days and how the Cumberland team bounces back will go a long way toward deciding if this bunch can have a solid postseason run -- or just quietly fade into the abyss.
