NASHVILLE -- A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, July 25 at the Bahá’i Faith Community Center, 1556 Bell Road, Nashville for Mr. Thorson, 90.
Known as "Ted" to his family and friends, died Friday, July 16, 2010.
Born in St. Paul, MN, he lived in the state of Washington for 34 years before moving to Tennessee in 1988.
Mr. Thorson attended Baldwin Wallace and Western Reserve Colleges and was a longtime learner. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II. Mr. Thorson retired from Scott Paper Company in 1982.
Graveside services with military honors were conducted Tuesday morning, July 20 at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.
Survivors include: daughter Janine (Wayne) Ray; granddaughters Lily Ray and Lea Ray and husband Tracy Feldman; several nieces and nephews; special friend Billie Frank Dickinson and her family along with dear friend “Mac” McConachie.
Mr. Thorson is preceded in death by parents Theodore A. and Frances Lundstrom Thorson; his wife of 62 years Pauline M. Thorson and sisters Marjorie (Joe) Steiger and Jane (Richard) McMahon.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Mt. Juliet Help Center. The family wishes to thank Dr. Michael Thomas and Dr. John Ververis and the 7th floor PCU staff of Summit Medical Center for outstanding care and kindness. Thanks also to Dr. Robert Guth whose care and friendship extended Mr. Thorson’s life.
