Wildcats fall in 9AAA soccer finals
HENDERSONVILLE -- Wilson Central dropped a 4-2 loss Thursday night to defending state champ Hendersonville High in the finals of the District 9AAA soccer tournament at Drakes Creek Park.

The teams waited out a 75-minute delay due to lightening and heavy rains. Central (10-5-1) visits Clarksville High Monday for the first round of the Region 5AAA tournament.

POST-SEASON HONORS -- Mitch Williams, Brad Cavanaugh, Patrick Cashman and Tucker Archie were named all-district. Williams, Cashman and Jackson redditt were selected all-tournament.

MJ wins 9AAA softball crown
LEBANON -- Mt. Juliet defeated Beech 9-6 early Friday morning to win the District 9AAA softball championship at Baird Park.

Play started Thursday at 5 p.m., but a storm halted play in the sixth inning for well over two hours. Mt. Juliet eventually lost the first game to the Lady Bucs 13-5 -- with the contest ending at 9:55 p.m.

The second game started at 10:12 p.m. and found the Lady Bears taking an early 3-0 lead on the strength of two-run triple by Madison Taylor.

Mt. Juliet will host a Region 5AAA opener Monday.

FCS - Gordonsville play at 2:20 p.m.
LEBANON -- Rained out last night, Friendship Christian and Gordonsville will square off Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the District 8A softball finals at FCS.

Friendship Christian needs just one win to earn the title. A Gordonsville win today would for the "if necessary" game to be played Saturday -- as GHS is holding graduation ceremonies tonight.
