Gordonsville came out of the gates red-hot and took a 19-15 lead after the first quarter and eventually pulled ahead by 11 in the third quarter, only to see Watertown go on a 12-0 run.


The seesaw battle was tied 54-all at the end of regulation.


Ty Jobe led Watertown with 15 while tournament MVP Macieo Gaines added 14 and Josiah Smith had 10. Ethan Moss had six, including a big 3-pointer early in the overtime period. Jobe and Smith joined Gaines on the all-tournament team.


8A CONSOLATIONFCS 46, Trousdale Co. 35HARTSVILLE -- Friendship Christian defeated host Trousdale County 46-35 in Tuesday's consolation game of the District 8A basketball tournament.


The Commanders improved to 10-14 overall with the win and face a 7 p.m. road game Saturday at Jackson County for the first game of the Region 4A tournament.


Allen Heaston led FCS with 18 points and Anthony Williams added 12.


(boys) Watertown 45, Friendship 41HARTSVILLE -- No. 4-ranked Watertown advanced to the District 8A tournament finals after holding off a determined Friendship Christian squad 45-41 Friday at Trousdale County High.


Watertown led 9-7 after one quarter, and took a 27-19 lead into intermission, FCS cut the margin to 31-27 after three, but the Tigers matched their rivals point for point in the fourth quarter for the win.


Macieo Gaines led Watertown with 11 points while Ty Jobe, Nick Sackman and Ethan Moss each had nine.


Allen Heaston led FCS with 14 points, Zac Anderson, Anthony Williams and Andrew Wood each finished with eight points.
