Trial date set for suspect in rape
From Post staff reports
A date of Nov. 9 has been set as the trial date here for Robert Jason Burdick who is suspected in the rape of a then 16-year-old girl in the driveway of her home in Wilson County late the night of Feb. 1, 2008.
Burdick was convicted in April on charges he attacked a woman who lives in the Donelson area of Nashville in 2007. He could be sentenced to up to 56 years in prison. His sentencing is set for June 10.
Burdick is a suspect in more than a dozen sexual assaults in Davidson, Williamson and Wilson Counties since 1994.
Authorities called the suspect the “Wooded Rapist” because the attacks occurred at victims’ homes located in or near wooded areas late at night or in the early morning hours when it was raining or had rained. Burdick has been charged with a total of 15 rapes.
A date for the Wilson County trial was set May 22 in court here. Burdick was not present for the hearing, remaining in a Davidson County jail due to his conviction.
