LEBANON -- Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, January 23 at the Sellars Funeral Home on the Baddour Parkway for Mrs. Roskam, 83, of Lebanon.
Known to her family as "Nan", and retired from the Baptist Sunday School Board (LifeWay), she passed away peacefully at her home with her family present January 20, 2009.
Born June 22, 1925 in Gotebo, OK, the oldest of six children, her family moved to San Diego, CA at the age of 14 after the Great Depression and Dust Bowl. She moved to Tennessee with her husband Frank. Services were conducted by Brother Donald Owens. Interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Survivors include: siblings Jess (Sharon) Van Deventer of National City, CA; Linda Bennett of Chula Vista, CA and Paula (Gary) Yakel of Spring Valley, CA; children Mary Kay Smith, Nancy Graham and Gail Orrand and Frank "Eddie" (Cindy) Roskam -- all of Lebanon.
Also surviving are 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank F. Roskam, Jr., father Earl Van Deventer, mother Mary Francis Van Deventer, sister Peggy Isbell, sister Vivian "Jane" Young, daughter Linda "Joyce" Baskin, daughter Sue E. Gattis, grandson Jon Gattis, granddaughter Michelle Malley and grandson Randy Malley.
The family wishes to thank Avalon Hospice Staff, particularly nurses Myla and Julie, for the great comfort and care they provided to our mother and family the last six weeks.
