RED BOILING SPRINGS — Another big night from quarterback Dalton Phillips and tailback Dylan Holycross carried Watertown past Red Boiling Springs 42-22 Friday night.

In a game that was never as close as the final score indicated, the Putple Tigers piled up all 42 of their points in the first half while their defense pitched a shutout heading into intermission.

Phillips continued his stellar play of late, passing for 203 yards on 8-of-10 and four touchdowns.

Holycross caught two of those TDs, while adding two more on the ground to total four scores himself.

Watertown’s Ethan Patterson hauled in a 67-yard pass from Phillips to fill up the stat sheet and put the rest of the Purple Tigers on the bench for the rest of the game.

For the second straight week, head Coach Gavin Webster managed to get some of his younger players some valuable action.

Zach Dodd carred the ball six times for 15 yards, and senior Blaze Eaton carried twice for 26 yards.

But the story was once again the poise in the pocket for the maturing Phillips, who found Patterson for 135 yards and two scores, in addition to Holycross, Eaton and Jacob Anderson.

After a rough start to the season, the Purple Tigers (4-4, 3-2) are on a bit of a roll, gaining confidence just in time for a tough rivalry matchup with Gordonsville next week.

Excitement for next week’s game is high as the Purple Tiger Express will be carrying fans via rail to Gordonsville (3-5) before the game, creating a lively atmosphere for the matchup.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Turney Ford Field.
