WC sends 11 to state tourney

The Wildcats repeated as Region 5 champions, placing nine wrestlers in the tournament finals -- six of whom won championships at Cookeville High School. Wilson Central posted 223 team points, with Blackman second at 187 and Siegel third with 122.

Region champs included: Christian Cerrito (113), Nick Insalaco (120), Eddie Small (132), Austin Richard (138), Perry Baltz (182) and John Kramer (220).

Lane Dickeson (106), John Davidson (152) and Jacob Myers (170) placed second in their respective classes. Jonathan Hayes (126) and Bryson Hutchison (145) both advance to the state with fourth place regional finishes.

Hunter Ingram (22) of Mt. Juliet advances with a fourth place finish while teammate Danyon Edens (145) moves on with a third place finish.

Individual awards --Small was voted Most Valuable Wrestler of the region tournament while Richard picked up the award for "best finals match". Wilson Centrals John Kramer was named Region 5AAA Coach of the Year.
