WC volleyball hosts Fall Fling

Lebanon, Mt. Juliet and defending state champion Friendship Christian will be in the tournament field along with Covenant Christian from Huntsville, AL, Donelson Christian Academy, Elizabethton, Franklin High, Franklin Road Academy, Portland, LaVergne and Station Camp.

ON TUESDAY -- Down 0-2 to District 9AAA rival Portland, Wilson Central staged a dramatic comeback to claim a 3-2 volleyball home win. Game scores: 20-25, 18-25, 25-9, 25-22 and 15-6.

Dariyan Stallings and Korri Bowers each had 17 kills in the marathon match while setter Amy Trice was on top of her game with 43 assists, an ace and 14 digs. Stallings also had 24 digs. Kendall Roberts served up eight aces and had 28 digs while Libby Trowbridge recorded 13 kills, two digs and two blocks.

Wilson Central (11-3 / 5-1 in 9AAA) is on the road Thursday at district rival Beech, before hosting the annual Fall Fling Friday and Saturday.

LHS falls at BeechSHACKLE ISLAND -- Lebanon's volleyball team dropped to 4-5 overall and 2-4 in District 9AAA following Tuesday's 3-0 loss at Beech. Game scores: 21-24, 13-25 and 20-25.

Alex Britt led Lebanon with eight kills, an ace, one dig and a block. Kelsey Yarbrough recorded seven kills and six digs while Tatum Thompson had 14 assists. Andi Carney had 20 digs and an ace.

On Monday, Sept. 10 -- Lebanon went on the road and knocked off Station Camp 3-1. Game scores: 25-12, 22-25, 25-11 and 25-18.

Veronica White led the Devilettes with 11 Kills, an ace and four digs while Yarbrough totaled nine kills, six aces, six digs and a block. Britt was in on nine kills, two aces, a dig and a block; Thompson passed out 20 assists, served seven aces and had four digs.

Lebanon will be back in action Thursday at District 9AAA rival Gallatin, followed by an appearance in the Wilson Central Fall Fling this weekend.
