A new incentive program launched by the Wilson County Convention and Visitors Bureau aims to use residents’ personal contacts as a means to help bring more meetings to the area.
The program, called Discover Tourism & Win, will award a gift certificate redeemable at a participating local restaurant to any resident whose contact leads to a confirmed definite booking. An official said he hopes some of the potential bookings that could come from the general public include small- to medium-size meetings, family or military reunions and more.
“Once a lead is received by our office, we will make contact, provide information and offer assistance before sending out a request for proposal to appropriate venues,” said Ricky Rodriguez, director of the WCCVB.
All qualified referrals will also be entered in a drawing to win an iPod Shuffle to be given out after National Tourism Week in May. “This program is a great opportunity for residents with a personal or professional relationship that could benefit the community,” Rodriguez said. “It may simply be referring a friend or relative that needs to plan a family reunion, wedding or small meeting.” To make a referral and register to win, log on to www.discoverwilson.com.
In addition to the Discover Tourism & Win program, the WCCVB has implemented a Staycation incentive aimed at reaching potential visitors living within 250 miles and who have specifically requested information about vacationing in Tennessee. Utilizing and online database, the WCCVB will direct visitors to sign up and receive information online, as well as register to win a package getaway.
