WCHS (3-3 overall) is idle Thursday in the WCIT, but the 'Cats are slated to host Clarksville High in a 6 p.m. game Friday -- followed by a 10 a.m. game Saturday vs. Marshall County (KY).


FRIENDSHIP SQUEEZES PAST HHS --LEBANON -- It took 11 innings, but Friendship Christian pulled out a 4-3 victory Wednesday over Hendersonville High in the opening round of the Wilson County Invitational Tournament.


Stefan Remus struck out 13 batters in eight innings of work and squeezed in the game-winning run in the bottom of the 11th inning with the bases loaded.


The game was scoreless until Hendersonville broke the ice with one run in the fourth. Hendersonville scored on a groundout by Wordlaw.


It didn't take long for FCS to answer as it scored two runs of its own in the fifth on a two-run single by Michael Hawks. Hawks worked the final two innings on the mound and picked up the win in relief.


Caleb Snider had a pair of hits for the winners in five trips to the plate.


Friendship Christian improved to 2-4 with the victory and is scheduled to host ezell-Harding Academy Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in another WCIT pool game.


LEBANON FALLS TO CPA --LEBANON -- Eleven hits and nine runs weren't enough as Lebanon High's baseball team dropped a 14-9 loss to Christ Presbyterian Academy Wednesday afternoon at chilly Brent Foster Field in the opening round of the Wilson County Invitational Tournament.


The Blue Devils (2-3) were their own worst enemy with five errors and four hit batsmen against CPA.


Christ Presbyterian took a 6-0 lead, only to see LHS battle back and tie the contest at 8-all, before CPA broke loose in the late innings.


Eddie McDaniels and Bryce Lester each had two hits and two RBI in the loss while Jack McKeon was 2-for-2 and was twice hit by a pitch.


Jay Pittman had a pair of hits and Jackson Arnold drove in two runs with two infield outs.


LHS is scheduled to host White House Thursday at 7 p.m. at Brent Foster Field in another WCIT pool game.


TUESDAY NIGHTACTION -- Lebanon High improved to 2-2 on the season with a 9-6 victory over Nashville's M.L. King at Brent Foster Field.


Designated hitterJay Pittman went 2-for-2 with two RBI while leftfielder Taylor Bryan added two hits and an RBI.


Soph Caleb Young, the fourth of six Blue Devil pitchers, worked one inning and picked up the win. Ninth grader Bryce Lester worked the seventh inning and picked up the save.


FCS blanks Watertown --LEBANON -- Brennan Swindoll threw a six-inning two-hitter Tuesday, lifting Friendship Christian to a 10-0 victory over Watertown High in District 8A baseball action.


Swindoll struck out 10 Purple Tigers as the Commanders improved to 1-4 on the season.


Tanner Rowland and Dusty Meador had the only two hits for Watertown (1-2).
