WEMA Director Jewell resigns

BREAKING NEWS -- John Jewell, director of Wilson Emergency Management, submitted a letter of resignation to County Mayor Randall Hutto Friday morning.

Hutto said he has not yet had the opportunity to talk to Jewell and discuss a resignation date or filling the position.

Jewell, a lifelong resident of Watertown, was appointed WEMA Director in 2008, replacing Jerry McFarland in that position.

Heformerly served as Chief of Watertown's Fire & Rescue. He is a graduate of Cumberland Junior College, and earned a B.S. from Middle Tennessee State University.
