Following 59-39 Class A Sectional win over Grace Academy Monday, March 4, Watertowns Purple Tigers will go well over a week without playing a game prior to their Wednesday afternoon debut in the 2013 BlueCross Basketball Championships at MTSUs Murphy Center.

Thats not hurting my feelings one bit, said Tiger head coach Matt Bradshaw.

We needed a little break, the wear and tear of the district, the region and the sectional right after that really drains the kids, he said.

Not so much the physical, but from the mental aspect. This time off will allow us to get our batteries recharged a little -- decompress some.

Watertown, 30-3 overall, is riding a 14-game win streak which dates back to a 64-52 loss at Eagleville back on Jan. 21.

Since then, the Purple Tigers have closed out the 2012-2013 season with both the District 8A regular season and tournament titles, Region 4A crown and a substate championship -- reaching the final eight for the first time in the history of the basketball program.

Watertowns 30 victories are the most by any team in the Class A field. Lake County, a surprize team out of Tiptonville in the northwest corner of the state, comes in with the fewest wins and a overall record of 8-23.

The other six teams in the tournament include: Knox Grace (23-10), Wartburg (27-4), Clarkrange (18-16), Richland (28-6), Mt. Pleasant (25-3) and Humboldt (26-6).

A blind bracket draw was held Saturday morning at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Murfreesboro.

The only team Watertown was assured of missing is Clarkrange, the Region 4A runner-up.

It really doesnt matter who you play, Coach Bradshaw said, every team in this thing is good.
