BY CHELSEA BURNETTThe Wilson PostWilson County Amateur Radio Club (Wilson ARC) is hosting its annual American Radio Relay League Field Day this weekend. Beginning at noon on Saturday, June 26, the event will run throughout the night and end around noon on Sunday, June 27 at the James E. Ward Agricultural Center in Lebanon. Tom Parker from the Wilson ARC said everyone is invited to attend the event. Members of the Wilson ARC will conduct radio drills with a contest to see who can achieve the greatest number of contacts. The Wilson ARC Field Day will host three different stations for Ham operators to coordinate with other operators across the U.S. The Wilson ARC was recently recognized for the tremendous assistance they gave during the May 1 and 2 flooding. Members of the Wilson ARC help relayed more than 70 reports during the disaster, which assisted citizens in accessing and receiving help and navigating proper evacuation routes. Mayor Philip Craighead recently proclaimed the week of June 21-27 as “Amateur Radio Operators Week.” For more information, visit www.WilsonARC.org.
