A woman has been charged with aggravated assault after she allegedly shot her boyfriend in the leg after accusing him of looking at porn on a computer inside their home.
The incident occurred on Saturday, Jan. 5. Lebanon Police Officer J. Scott responded to a call regarding a shooting at 1417 Idlewild Drive, Apartment A. He said in his report that the woman who called, identified as Melonie Cantrell, reportedly said she shot a man in self-defense and the handgun she used was on a bed in a bedroom.
The officer was met at the front door by Cantrell who was crying and yelling that she had been attacked so she fired the weapon.
Scott took Cantrell out of the home and then went back in where a man, identified as Jimmy Harp, was on the couch with a gunshot wound to his left inner thigh. Harp reportedly told the officer that Cantrell came into the living room with his handgun pointed at him, stood in front of the TV and demanded that he confess to her that he had been looking at porn on the computer or else she was going to shoot him dead.
The officer noted in the report that Harp said he did not answer her and that was when she allegedly shot him.
Cantrell was then taken to the Lebanon Police Department for questioning.
The weapon reportedly used in the incident was a Taurus Millennium PT145. Officers recovered a .45 ACP spent shell casing and a metal projectile from within the couch.
Cantrell was released on Jan. 6 after posting bond which was set at $35,000. She is to appear in court on Feb. 19.
