Wilson County School System is dealing with several end of the year changes.

On the positive end of the spectrum, the board selected Dr. Donna Wright, currently the assistant superintendent of Williamson County Schools, as their top candidate to be Wilson County Schools Director, pending contract negotiations.

However, on Monday night it was also revealed that some positions will be cut – including the Deputy Director of Student Services position now held by Mickey Hutson.

The district originally approved the Deputy Director of Student Services position, along with the Deputy Director of Academics and Deputy Director of Talent Management positions under the leadership of former schools director Dr. Tim Setterlund in December.

According to a Jan. 23 article in The Wilson Post, these positions were filled by Hutson, a former classroom teacher at Collierville High School where Setterlund was a principal, Leisa Justus, formerly principal of Houston High School in Shelby County, and Mary Ann Sparks, who was promoted from within the Wilson County School System, respectively. Sparks was named to serve as interim Director of Schools after Setterlund resigned.

Other positions to be cut include a French teacher, a math teacher, a physical education teacher and a Spanish teacher.
