MONDAY, APRIL 19 AT LHS -- The newly formed Lebanon Youth Track Club will hold its first information meeting and practice 5 p.m. Monday, April 19 at the Lebanon High School / Nokes-Lasater Field track. All youth in eighth grade or below are encouraged to come check out the fun.
The Lebanon Youth Track Club is a member of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) and the cost to join the club is only $12, which includes an individual membership in the AAU. Matt Smart, the club director and coach, is excited to get the program off the ground.
“I’m encouraged to see the rising interest in running and fitness among our youth in the Lebanon community,” Smart said. “This club will provide a great introduction to the sport of athletics and get kids prepared to run some fun track meets in the middle Tennessee area this spring and summer.”
Meets scheduled for this season include the Hershey Track and Field series held in Murfreesboro, the Tennessee Youth Invitational held at the University School in Nashville, AAU qualifier meets in Nashville and Knoxville, and the Nashville Striders All-comers meets.
