Roger Perry Field dedication

Following an open date, Mt. Juliet will play host to Region 5-5A opponent Hunters Lane on Sept. 2.

Prior to the game, ceremonies will be held to dedicate the field to former MJHS coach Roger Perry.

Perry compiled a record of 265-92 in 29 years as a head football coach with stops at Westmoreland, Portland and Mt. Juliet.

His Mt. Juliet teams went 25-3 over his final two seasons – 2011 and 2012 — with the Golden Bears.

Perry was inducted into the Tennessee Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in December of 2017, having taken teams to the TSSAA playoffs 27 times.

Travers becomes eligible

Sophomore transfer Tyler Travers has been declared eligible by the TSSAA to play this season for the Golden Bears.

A Mt. Juliet resident, the 6-4, 185 pound quarterback participated as a freshman at Pope John Paul II.

He is expected to serve as a backup for MJHS senior starter Griffin Throneberry.
