The American Legion Post 15 of Lebanon Tennessee will have two Fourth of July events to help celebrate the chapter’s 100th anniversary.
The first event is a Field of Flags, named “Our Country’s Flag,” at the James E. Ward Agricultural Center at 945 Baddour Parkway from July 2-4. One hundred sixty American Flags will be displayed to the right of the entrance to the Wilson County Fairgrounds.
The American Legion will be preselling flag kits, individual flags, and triangle display cases to individuals, and event sponsorships to businesses. The Opening Ceremony will be at 1 p.m. on July 2 and the Closing Ceremony will be 4 p.m. on July 4. Flags will still be available for purchase until the fireworks are over that evening.
The second event will be on July 4. Post 15, joined by other Veteran Service Organizations of Lebanon, will have a pulled pork sale at the James E. Ward Agriculture Center. The menu includes one-pound boxes of barbecue pork or beef, individual pork or beef sandwiches and plate lunches of pork or beef with cole slaw and baked beans. The one-pound boxes will be available starting at 8 a.m. Plate lunches will be available for eat-in dining in the pavilion starting at 10 a.m.
Assisting Post 15 in both events will be the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5015, Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 1004 and Associates of Vietnam Veterans of America Inc., Chapter 1004. The proceeds of the events will be shared by the four organizations.
