A Mt. Juliet woman has been charged for a threat involving Green Hill High School that was posted anonymously on the message board YikYak.

Mary Keagan Lawrence, 18, was arrested on Nov. 17 and charged with making a threat of mass violence on school property, according to a news release from District Attorney General Jason Lawson.

The post, made on Nov. 11, indicated that the school was going to be the target of a school shooting the next day. The absentee rate at Green Hill more than tripled on Nov. 12, according to the news release.

According to the affidavit, Lawrence told law enforcement investigators that she made the social media post to try to get people out of school. YikYak employees were able to provide the investigators with Lawrence’s phone number and address.

Increased police presence at the school was required, and personnel from the FBI, TBI, Wilson County Sheriff’s Department, Mt. Juliet Police Department and District Attorney’s office helped to investigate the case.
