The Lebanon Planning Commission approved plans for a tech-driven hotel two years after it approved plans for a similar hotel.
The commission approved plans for a Tru Hotel by Hilton to be located at 1045, 1055 and 1075 Franklin Road, with the site plan estimating the development to be about 87,000 square feet. The planning documents show the hotel would be 19,000 square feet and feature 190 rooms in the four-story hotel.
Plans also show a proposed retail or restaurant space of about 11,375 square feet adjacent to the hotel.
Hilton representatives describe the Tru chain of hotels as “vibrant, affordable and young-at-heart.” The hotel features include: charging outlets throughout the lobby and guest rooms; free wireless printing anywhere in the hotel; fitness center that includes a tablet complete with workouts; mobile check-in and digital key; semi-private alcoves in the lobby; and a game room.
The Lebanon Planning Commission approved plans for a Tru Hotel on Franklin Road in 2017, but the establishment never came to fruition as Hilton modified its future Tru hotels plans.
Lebanon economic and community development director Sarah Haston said Tru could help attract a different demographic to Lebanon, mainly millennials.
Hilton Brand leaders also said Tru’s prototype was designed to fit easily into urban, suburban, highway and airport adjacent locations.
The Lebanon Planning Commission will discuss the plans for the hotel at a future council meeting.
