Two friends from Carthage, Wyatt Close and Brandon Thompson, will split a winning lottery ticket worth $3 million purchased last Friday at the QuikTrip on Sparta Pike in Lebanon, according to a news release from the Tennessee Education Lottery.

The men were driving to work and decided to split the cost of the two Jumbo Bucks Titanium instant tickets. Thompson initially didn’t want to purchase tickets, according to the news release.

The first ticket was a non-winner, but then Close opened the second one.

“I saw those black bold numbers and just started jumping,” he said.

“I thought he was going to jump through the roof of the van,” Thompson said.

The men said they have similar plans for what they each will do with their portion of the winnings: save, invest and build a home.
