A new Hobby Lobby store is set to take over the building that formerly housed Gander Mountain just off Interstate 40 in South Mt. Juliet, and several other new businesses are in the works for the booming area, according to city officials.

The mystery of what would go into the former Ace Hardware in Mt. Juliet is no more now that one of Nashville’s favorite bakeries has announced plans to open in the location.

Nothing Bundt Cakes will soon open at the North Mt. Juliet Road location, and those who might indulge a little too much can just hop over to the other side of the building, as a new exercise facility is also planned for the massive space.

Mt. Juliet City Manager Kenneth Martin recently announced the Nothing Bundt Cakes franchise will take up 3,000 square feet of the former hardware store. The remaining 10,000 square feet will house a new gym called Northtown.

The Nothing Bundt Cakes brand originated with founders Dena Tripp and Debbie Shwetz, who joined forces in 1997 to make cakes for friends and family. They specialize in Bundt cakes in a variety of flavors and, with the new Mt. Juliet location coming soon, locals will not longer have to travel to existing locations in Nashville and Hendersonville for their cake fixes.

Hobby Lobby soon in MJ

For those who love to shop local, Martin also announced Hobby Lobby will move into the former Gander Mountain in South Mt. Juliet.

“Hobby Lobby is looking to open by April of 2018, or hopefully sooner,” Martin noted.

The popular store carries arts and crafting supplies, fabric, home decor and more.

And on the dining scene, Burgerim Gourmet Burgers is now officially open for hungry holiday shoppers in Providence. The new eatery allows diners to build their own burgers with an array of gourmet buns, toppings and sauces.

Mt. Juliet’s business landscape is poised to continue its seemingly unstoppable growth as plans for both an IHOP and a Honda dealership will soon go before the Mt. Juliet Planning Commission.

“We are also working with several other really exciting prospects and hope to have more great news coming soon,” Martin added.
