For the second year in a row, the West Wilson Utility District (WWUD) has been named the overall winner of the Region Five Best Tasting Water Competition sponsored by the Tennessee Association of Utility Districts (TAUD).

Drinking water samples at the May 10 competition were judged on their clarity, bouquet and taste.

TAUD Region Five includes Wilson, Cheatham, Davidson, Robertson and Sumner counties. Other participating utilities included Gladeville Utility District, Hartsville Trousdale County Water, Hendersonville Utility District and LaGuardo Utility District.

Participating as judges for the event were Dr. Dinah Kitchens with the Tennessee Department of Health, Craig Ingram with TN811 and Brian Harstine with Servline.

Over the past few months, TAUD conducted contests in each of the association’s 11 regions. The winner of each regional competition will compete at TAUD’s 2018 Business Utility Conference at the Gatlinburg Convention Center on Aug. 9. The statewide winner will then represent Tennessee in the Great American Taste Test at the National Rural Water Association Rally in Washington, D.C. in February 2019.
